"We’ve also faced intense criticism and even personal attacks against a number of Automatticians from members of the “community” who want Matt and others to step away from the project," writes Automattic on their official blog.
Yes, Automattic, you have faced intense criticism. And, at this poin...
Moving house is an odd thing, even when that house turns out to be a virtual one. Usually, visual changes here are purely design changes as both my tastes and my design skills evolve. But, this time, many of the changes you see are connected to a migration (or move) of what and how this site functio...
Don’t get me wrong. I love the Admin Bar that WordPress shows on sites that I maintain. But, there are a few things that I want to change.
Many months have passed since my last post, and a lot has happened.
And, by now, you have probably noticed one big change — this site is not running gasp or drupal (or wordpress for that matter).
I was playing around with gasp, in hopes of modifying it to work in a database-less (XML) mode. Fi...
Over the weekend, I redesigned my website. I’m mostly happy with what I have so far. Some of it was inspired by an old design I did for my site when it had been powered by WordPress.
I have a question for anyone reading this. Are the Block Headers (SUBSCRIBE, LINKS, JOURNAL, FRIENDS) necessa...
I was looking through some old posts imported from my old site, and realized that it has been a long time since I’ve explained my choice of technologies to run the site. My first dynamic site was run by b2evolution. Both b2evo and WordPress were forks of an older system. And, over time, I trie...

I just finished customizing a WordPress skin for SarahStockwell.com. The point was to reflect Sarah’s musical style, integrate with her Online Store at CD Baby, and give her an easy non-geeky way of updating her own site.
It’s no where near as fancy as the one in Mozilla-based browsers (Camino, Firefox, SeaMonkey, Flock, etc.), but for those of us who prefer Apple’s Safari, it’s a lot more than we get in WordPress right now. And, this is how I got it working:
Using the User Agent spoofing settings on the Debug...
If you scroll way back in this blog, you will find a very old post explaining why I chose b2evolution over wordpress. Well, it would seem times have changed. After having my blog hacked while running b2evo, I migrated to a static page design that I ran from my mac using either iBlog or macJou...
Not many people will be able to see the new changes yet. If you are seeing this, consider yourself one of the lucky few in the know.I am considering moving my site away from b2evo and managing it locally with macJournal. Some people consider this a step backward, but since I find that I actually u...
This is a plug-in to allow posting to a b2evolution blog (like the one you are reading right now) from the MyIE2 sidebar.MyIE2 is not a stand-alone browser. It adds tabbed browsing and filtering to the Explorer Engine within Windows. Actually, it adds most of the features that I miss from the Kon...
As I mentioned to Matt in the other post, I am detailing why I wound up with b2evolution instead of WordPress. Let me make it clear first, that there was only 1 deciding factor for me between the 2 (simplicity of upgrade). I did not make my choice over features or anything else. I really like b...
So, I did say earlier that WordPress looked easier. Well, I was wrong. As you may be able to tell, I am now running b2evolution. I don’t know what a lot of these extra do-hickies do yet. I promise to let you know when I find out.
